Welcome to the
Onondaga County
Democratic Committee
Refugees
Listed below are some things you can do to help refugees in our community and around the world starting today.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
Give a gift to the International Rescue Committee
The Rescue Gifts items in this catalog represent many of the programs, projects and tools that compose the IRC's work every day around the world. Allowing them to deliver comprehensive and holistic help to uprooted people, your gift will be used where and when most needed. And, when combined with those of other donors, your Rescue Gift becomes a powerful means to survival, recovery, and the restoration of dignity and self-reliance for those uprooted by conflict or natural disaster.
Volunteer with InterFaith Works in Syracuse
InterFaith Works has a wide range of programs and activities throughout the year, engaging over 5,000 people through our program work and events. Volunteers are invited to attend, support, plan and lead any of our programs and events and related committees. Their programs include:
The Center for New Americans, which provides resettlement and post-resettlement services to help refugee families in Syracuse reestablish their lives and overcome the barriers to successful integration in their new communities.
The Ahmad and Elizabeth El-Hindi Center for Dialogue, which serves as a hub for constructive community engagement. Dialogue programs and activities address community concerns and encourage understanding across racial, ethnic and religious differences.
and more!
